I was in Spain and France last June/July. Never dropped below 30 dgrees, 38 some days.
I rode in Hood denim jeans and a textile jacket with all the vents open.
The only problem I noticed was my arms getting a little sweaty with only a T-shirt on.
This year, I'm on the Bilbao ferry 29/06/12, I have long sleeved t shirts. B)
The first cold beer in the evening makes it all worthwhile. :silly:

went last year to spain in june (30-35 celsius in a shadow) with full riding kit, i use for summer riding in uk (summer jacket, pants with vents).
thought that sweat will be running in streams, but was really surprised - the weather is dry in spain, and riding with full kit is ok.

Living here i have to put up with this blasted heat for at least 20 weeks a year

I bought me and our lass a summer jacket a piece over here €80 each basically its a cordura mesh jacket with amour and fantastic but have to admit i only wear combats on the pins !!! i know i'm a silly boy but i still wear boots, i just carry a set of water proofs for Decathlon , the type that hill walkers use €12 a set , keep out the wind and rain and roll up to nothing.
If you get down our way mate call in

Sykesy, get some light coloured fully vented textile clothing. Much cooler than leather.
The light colour will reflect the heat somewhat as opposed to dark colours, this may cause some debate, but dark colours absorb the heat.
If they have liners take them out and stuff them away for use if it gets cooler or carry a cheap waterproof oversuit each.
As its a trip dont throw cash at stuff you will only use a handful of times when you can get stuff with liners in that can be used pretty much all year round in the UK too.

Hi I use a Tuareg suit..fully vented and its very cool but not waterproof so just carry a cheap oversuit for the spanish downpours..and carry a camelbak 3 ltr for the water as you`ll need it especailly for those unseen breakdowns..

Re: Bike clothing in HOT weather, what do you wear?
I agree with much of what has already been said. I don´t even look at my leathers between May and October - even the thought of them makes me sweat.
If you riding mostly in the mountains, you could get away with UK summer wear, but be prepared to be (really) uncomfortable in lower areas. Pack water!
Wicking baselayer - yes, a must I think. And agree that Decathon gear is well worth the small outlay - I´ve got quite a lot of their stuff - good value.
Like Phil in France, I have invested in a Spanish summer textile suit - with much of the covering just being mesh holding the tough bits together - but I can understand that this may not be an option if only riding in the south of Europe from time to time. As PJ notes, perhaps some good vented textiles with removable liners could be a more cost effective way to go, as you could use these in the Uk too. I would leave the lining behind - I can´t recall ever needing that in the summer, even in the mountains. If you are unlucky with the weather and feel a chill, you can pick up a fleece in Decathlon for as little as 6 euros. The store is very popular in Spain, lots of them around.
Hope that helps.
