BMW takes the wraps off the new R NineT GS
Written by Harriet Jordan

Today has been a busy day for everyone at BMW, with the company announcing no less than eight new or updated motorcycle models at EICMA. As we reported earlier in the day, the R1200GS has been given some tasty updates, while a new G310GS was official unveiled. And now, the Bavarian based manufacturer has revealed the production version of its R NineT GS, or Urban GS as it's coming to be known.

BMW has revealed the full 2017 updated version of the R1200GS at EICMA this morning, with two new models to chose from named Rallye and Exclusive.

The firm’s flagship adventure bike now has an options package that includes ‘Hill-Start Control’ to stop the bike from rolling on an incline and extra off-road-specific riding modes in addition to the standard ‘Road’ and ‘Rain’.

Suzuki introduces new V-Strom 250
Written by Sophie Goodall

Rumours of a small capacity V-Strom have been circulating for over a year now, and as we expected, Suzuki has unveiled the new V-Strom 250 at the Milan Motorcycle Show, EICMA. Based on the Inazuma 250, the latest addition to the V-Strom family is described as an adventure bike equally adept at daily riding and long touring.

Written by Bryn Davies

2017 looks set to be the year of the small capacity adventure motorcycle, with BMW confirming the launch of its new baby GS, the G310GS, at EICMA this morning.

The machine was spied last month by strategically placed Motorrad photographers in Germany, and today BMW officially revealed the newest addition to the GS family.

Kawasaki reveals all new Versys-X 300 at EICMA
Written by Bryn Davies

Kawasaki's new offering to the world of adventure motorcycling was today revealed at EICMA, and rather than it being a 250 (as had been expected), the Japanese manufacturer unveiled the all-new Versys-X 300.

Very little has been revealed in the way of specs or technical details by Kawasaki, so we are left to speculate on what we're seeing. The Versys-X 300 is likely to be based on the Z300's tubular chassis, with the same 296cc liquid-cooled, 4-stroke parallel-twin engine.

New Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled presented at EICMA
Written by Harriet Jordan

Ducati has unveiled the second of the two new Scrambler models during a pre-Eicma press conference in Milan, the Scrambler Desert Sled.

We first got a glimpse of this new bike when the Italian manufacturer released a (somewhat cryptic) video back in October. What we managed to conclude, however, was that the model would be geared towards off-road focused use.

Honda unveils new X-ADV adventure scooter
Written by Harriet Jordan

Brought into the public eye as a concept in 2015, this year's EICMA show in Milan hosted the reveal of Honda’s latest, and quirkiest model - the X-ADV adventure scooter.

Last year, Honda said the X-ADV “combines the spirit of adventure with all round performance, premium specifications, practicality, and comfort for urban commuting and weekend escapes”, and they might just have achieved this. With rugged looks and long travel suspension, wire-spoked wheels and hand guards the bike's well equipped for the rigours of riding off-road. In this respect, the X-ADV delivers on its promise of adventure.

Yamaha showcases T7 Rally concept at EICMA
Written by Bryn Davies

This year's EICMA show has only been open one day, yet the amount of exciting news that has made its way out of Milan is encouraging, especially for the adventure bike market. This latest reveal is likely to be music to the purist adventure rider's ears: Yamaha has revealed a new concept rally bike at EICMA, the T7, and it's looking likely that it's the XT660Z's predecessor.

Ducati officially reveals new Multistrada 950
Written by Bryn Davies

The bike, which was unveiled at Milan's EICMA show, has been released in an effort to provide riders with a more accessible and affordable version of the Multistrada, and Ducati CEO, Claudio Domenicali, described the new machine as the company's “swiss army knife”.

He went on to add that the Multistrada 950 is “made for those who seek comfort and style and want superior performance without feeling intimidated”.

The life-threatening dangers of riding in the cold
Written by Bryn Davies

As we move in to winter the nights are drawing in and the temperatures are starting to plummet. While this signals the end of the riding season for many, there are those who like to get out on two wheels whatever the weather, but doing so could be a dangerous endeavour if the risks are not properly understood.

When riding in the winter, aside from the unpredictable road conditions that ice and snow present, becoming cold in the saddle can not only be uncomfortable, but life threatening. It sounds like an over dramatic warning, but it's not, it's reality.

Motorcycle clothing manufacturer Richa has teamed up with Gore Tex to launch a new range of textile jackets and trousers.

Richa and Gore Tex have joined forces to create textiles that provide bikers with improved protection in the event of an off, and increased resistance to poor weather conditions. The first of the range, the Cyclone jacket and trousers, will come out this month and the rest later this year. So keep your eyes on the company's website ( for some last-minute Christmas gift inspiration, or maybe an end-of-year treat for yourself ('tis the season of giving, after all.)
