As a very new rider, ive not had to ride much in the rain until tonite , when it hammered down for all of my 20 mile commute
So question is, any tips for riding in the rain ? .... biggest issue i had was lack of visibility,...... and i know i need to avoid drain covers and painted lines etc ....
any tips to make it more comfortable ?
cheers Tony
Riding in the rain :( .... Any tips ?

Just relax, try to ride really smooth nothing rushed. In the way of visibility, pinlock visor inserts are excellent and i have never experienced misting up with one in. Also i dont know what theyre called but you can get some little rubber things to slide over your finger that act as a sort of windscreen wiper, ive got one built into my glove and its great for clearing the visor at low speed.

On a serious note. Good clothing inc boots and gloves. Most of us who ride all year round just grin and bear it. As long as I have dry feet and even if the gloves are not waterproof with heated grips they still keep warm. When it comes to clothing/kit you get what you pay for. Go for quality.
Adventure motorcycling is a challenge for those who go but only a dream for those who stay behind.

I've always stuck by this rule in the dry and wet, if it's shiny it's slippery.
I wear a thin water proof coat over my bike gear, put the hood up under your lid to stop drips getting in and down your neck.
Put plastic bags over your socks too, jacket cuffs outside of gloves too in the rain.
Basically, stay comfy and your concentration is on what counts, the road!
Riding technique? More stopping distance and just keep it as smooth and flowing as you can with no sudden inputs.
Visibility counts both ways, extra running lights and wear a hi viz.

As Toblerone correctly says, stay smooth, real schmooooooove. Remember that a) your breaking distances increase, & b) use more back brake & less front brake
The pinlock system is excellent, but if you do get some misting, open your visor a bit to let some cooler air in
Also, have a look at this http://www.openroadjourney.com/articles/105.asp

It's all about being smooth, making sure your sticking to the system nice corner lines don't particularly worry about white lines if the tyres slip they will regrip again when the hit Tarmac. Riding in the wet will make u a better rider

All of the above and...
Decent tyres grip much better than you expect. Be relaxed and smooth. If you've got cheepo tyres... stay in!
