Legal Requirements Motorcycles in Spain.

Thought we might be able between us to thrash out an actual & definitive legal requirement for Spain.
I'll kick it off as I regularly ride the Picos Mountains & have managed to glean all sorts of information over the years, none of which I can guarantee to have any accuracy but differ from what we're used to in the uk.

1. Must carry Log Book, Driving Licence, Insurance certificate, Passport & now UK Road Tax.

2. Rear view mirror on the Left.

3. Euro number plate or GB badge.

4. Dipped headlights @ all times.( I have seen Euro. Union letters which exclude vehicles not originally fitted with lights but the Spanish Police don't like it & you may still get an on the spot fine & have to argue later. You won't get your money back.)

5. Spare set of Bulbs & means of replacement. (Think rear LED's are excluded)

6. High Vis Waistcoat in case of breakdown.

If you go into a garage by the wrong entrance there may be a policeman waiting to take 65 euros off you.

I've just read that in France from July 1st you have to carry a Breathalizer Kit with you.

It,s a start & even though the Spanish are more Biker Friendly than the Brits you will still get on the spot fines for non compliance.

Brian.

No media player hooked up to your helmet - this includes a satnav.

Sent by my mobile phone coz it's smarter than me!

Cheers Brian..

Is the high viz jacket for "motorcycles" a legal requirement in Spain as its not in France and I do know the Spanish police trick "Foreign" motorists into getting out of cars without them for money..Tut Tut

And how about group riding numbers and is it staggered or in line? all important stuffat this stage me thinks..and is the group leader legally responsible for the others as in uk for speeding "catch up riders"..

What's that about?
Can car drivers still have a satnav talking to them?
I don't like Tw4tNavs but attaching my headphones is the only way I use one as it's usually hidden in my tank bag.

Oops. Do you know how do they feel about Rider/passenger comms (Autocom) ?

I was thinking of fitting a quick off switch to stop the Zumo music. Now I may think harder.

As for the HVJ.

I had a rapid rear flat on the out side of a curve and an exit ramp on a Spanish Motorway. I was happy I had it with me. It was f**king scary.

That's earplugs, not media devices. You are not allowed to have anything playing sounds into your ears. That includes rider/pillion comms.
However there was some confusion as to whether helmet speakers were included or it was just in-ear headphones.
It's likely that if you are caught by the Traficos you will be fined either way, and if you want to can fight your case through the courts.
