Fitted them to my 600 Alp at the start of last winter and they did exactly what I'd hoped they'd do - keep me upright & riding right the way through last winters snow

You've still got to expect to lay the machine down every now and again in weather like that shown in the above photo, even with TKC's on.

Got approx 2k miles out of the rear TKC so far (swapped it out for a dedicated off road tyre in the spring), where as the front is only now showing signs of the usual odd wear pattern.

For something as lardy as the GS, I'd stick to dual purpose tyres mentioned by others - they're OK for "soft roading", and even some mud (when the muds dry ;) ).

Best of luck with your choice of tyre.

A belated additon to this thread - I have TKC's on my Africa Twin and rate them as good as the previous Tourances on-road, even in the wet. Off-road, they're confidence-inspiring for the relatively mild use they get on rutted/muddy tracks. The present front has clocked up 10k and will need replacing soon. The present rear has done 4.5k and has quite a bit of tread left; the last rear was replaced after 5k but only due to an impending long trip; it would probably have gone on to 6k or so. I will be sticking with TKC's!

That looks a bit tastey, I,ve just googled it and they don't seem to be listed for the GS, although they are fitted to a HP2 in your pic if I'm not mistaken.

It's probably me but the original is in German and the translation isn't too clever....................
150/70 B18 M/C 70T TL M + S K 60 Scout

Allround - Enduro tire, that in things wet liability and curve stability a further improvement of the handling characteristics in comparison with the predecessor K60. through the high negative share in the profile sufficient traction in the terrain. Through a modification of certain profile elements, an optimized construction of the Reifenkarkasse and an improved course area mixture, the Scout reaches especially a very high load stability and a security higher substantially in the curve behavior in wetness.

The first link is better, but the tyres in the gumph don't have the same pattern as in the picture posted, and I was looking at the 17 rear ones.

Personaly I have nothing against off piste brands, I've heard great reports for MAXXIS road tyres, if you do go for it give us a write up.

Fitted a pair to my XT660z. Great on tarmac and excellent off road. Cant comment on tyre life yet.
