Does anyone actually use these? I tried once but kept having nightmares that I was trapped in a bag and waking up to find I was. I think I eventually decided it was time to get up at about 4.30am and make a start on the day. Ive now got the msr hubba hubba nice and meshy so ready for the Sahara or equally hot and rugged climes like Norfolk! You need your passport to travel there from Suffolk.

Anyone who tours on a motorcycle and feels they need to pack along a bivi bag needs counselling. :)

I've slept in these oversized crisp packets many a time, in the conditions and environments where you have no (or little) alternative – like in a snowhole on a Himalayan peak, and as an emergency life saving overnight backup when I've run out of time on a tricky descent in the Alps. Trust me, buy a tent.

I feel more secure in a tent, its a kind of false security but mentally its security. (I know what i mean anyway:) )

I take a Rab Survival zone into the hills just in case?

I do use a Dutch army bivi in the winter inside my tent - but mainly to keep the dogs muddy feet off my sleeping bag.

I nearly bought the Hubba too, but thought it was way too flimsy and cold for this country, with a 1m hydrostatic head its not really waterproof in the real world.

Perfect for hotter climates though!

You need a large tent to get all your family in for Norfolk!
Just don't tell them you're from Ipswich at the border.;)

Hi there,

The guys at the Great Escape Adventure Motorcycle Club in Wiltshire insist on you using tarps and Bivi bags - tents are banned! Great guys - give their ride outs and adventures ago.

If it rains Appleby I will turn the tent upside down as the HH of the groundsheet is 10,000mm! Or just get back inside the bivi.. :)
