FIRST TO THE FREEZE RALLY DARTMOOR 13th to 15th Jan 2012

Welcome to the First to the Freeze Rally.
Friday 13th Jan 2012 to Sunday 15th Jan 2012
The venue will be the historic and beautiful Dartmoor National Park – The camp is in the national park and home to some of the most amazing castles as well as a wealth of historic sites.
For those brave souls wishing to do the Dragon Rally / Elephant Rally or even just get a taste of winter riding then ABR will be putting on the first Rally of 2012 in a series of what I am sure will be a continuing success from this year.
If you are looking to test your skills and your camping gear in a safe environment then this is the place for YOU!
There will be open fires allowed on the site and the owner (Lynn) ha a very chilled attitude in welcoming a group of bikers.
There are on site toilets and a shower block is in the making – so not so sure about that at the present.
The location is based in the amazing and historic Dartmoor National Park itself.
The Ride Out –
I’ve been looking around some of the area and there are indeed some real treasures to be found – this is of course the off season and so Becka Falls will be closed but the roads are still open to enjoy the towns and villages of the park. As well of course as castles and prehistoric settlements before a visit to the famous Buckfast Abbey, maker of the fine tonic wine! Sure to keep you warm on a cold night.
I have done a basic map of the ride out and that can be found here - RIDE OUT
There will also be a Green Lane ride out and one confirmed by Schoeoo aka Nick.
Nick is a local member of the TRF in the area, so you are sure of some interesting “roads”. Nick is willing to take about 5 riders with him and will lead anything from Novice to Technical.
You can see Nick on Friday about what level you are and what he has up his sleeve.
Harty (Local TRF)will also be available for a day of Green Lane fun and frolics on the muddy side of life. Again, on the Friday I will speak to all Lead Riders and have a chat to get everyone up to speed about what time(ish) people want to leave, a basic idea of who is going where and to what level of ability you should be at.
In an ideal world I think a group for Novice and a group for Technical may be best but that all depends on what level people are when we get to Dartmoor.
It is all very relaxed and sorted out on the night.
Many thanks to Nick and Harty for putting the rides on – weather seems rather changeable and exciting! Plenty of ground pegs me thinks!!
Not being very sure how many hardy riders we have I shall wait to see what numbers show an interest in the rally event before talking about splitting the rides as was done at the Welsh and Scottish Rally.
