Wiring misery

Hi all,

As a good father, I recently purchased a 50cc Rieju bike for my 16 year old son. Being a skint father, I paid £500 for a 13 year old rat. It had a good engine and ran well but no other electrics were working.

I've sorted everything except the dash. This bike runs a rectifier and with a 12v AC output and the previous owner fitted a newer dash which requires a DC supply. Will I be ok to put a converter into the supply circuit to the dash?

The rectifier should give dc, have you tested the output.

Apologies, it's a regulator not a rectifier. Always type the wrong thing.
I've tested it and it's working fine. I just wondered whether there was any issues with using an AC to DC converter in the circuit to the dash.

Could you convert the lot to DC using an integrated reg/rec?
This will give more consistent lighting at low rpms...you might even be able to use brighter LED lamps without overwhelming the system.

out of interest whats the difference between the two AC inputs (A and AC) if I remember.

When I put a new reg/rec on my KTM950 it had 3 yellow wires: apparently the component doesn't care which connection is made to which wire.
I joined them randomly and it worked fine!

surely it comes standard with a DC reg/rec?,, does it have a battery?
