Looks great fun especially the offroading section.
I just might have to pop this one on my tick list for next year, thank you for sharing.

Hello all!
Just a quick note about the Scotland and Wales ABR Rallies:
If you attended either or both, and have some great pics from the weekends, we'd like to see them in the mag!
I can't take pics off the forum, because the files are too small to use in print, but these look ace!
If you'd like to send some pics into the mag, please email me at
[email protected] with your photos and we'll print them in the next issue of ABR
Cheers!

I just spotted this on some of the other biking forums in regards John (Pembroke) Halsted. I only met him once at the ABR South Wales Rally, after he lead the trail ride for the day and I had a beer with him afterwards in the pub, he was great to talk to and a real character. I've put this post on here, as it was these pics that he took for the lads on the trail ride.
A true trail riding legend is passing from us
I can't tell you folks what a star he is but it's almost certain that huge numbers of trail riders here have met and ridden with him

John "Pembroke" Halsted (please follow the link above DO NOT run to your phone)
He'll be remembered for not only his life long fetish for maps and marking them up but also his complete and utter inability to follow them or have any idea which way to turn
He makes everyone smile a true gentleman and he was always more than willing to share his rides with everyone
There's still time to say goodbye

He's been almost everywhere from China to South America, he'd ride huge distances in a day just for a trail ride somewhere "ooop north"

Harty, not the sort of news I like getting, but thanks all the same.
John is an absolute legend, I've only ridden with him twice - once a GEAMCC event 3 years back - last out of the bar first up in the morning, if I recall correctly
Then the ABR event where he skillfully guided us on Sarn Helen and The Gap wearing his numberplate over his jacket on straps  Top day out - John set a very fast pace, only stopping for smokes or for us to snap a few pictures. I didn't see him study the map all day long B)
After a full days riding the light was starting to go and when asked by one of the team how far we were from the pub (our destination) John confidently predicted "only about 10 miles" 90 minutes later our thirst was quenched
Happy memories
