Waterproof bike boots.

Post by garyboy »

Recommendation for fully waterproof boots, preferably leather, with good stiff soles, wide fitting, .. must be reasonably priced.
Brand .. ideas ?

Mostly for road riding,
But possibly trail too?

I love my Forma Adventures - not the cheapest around, but not the most expensive either. Good balance of comfort and protection I think - if you are not going to be doing any serious off road stuff. Smart, comfy, dry - and not too mad to have a walk in either - plus I like how planted my foot feels when I stop the bike. Now on my 2nd pair, 1st set lasted 12 years and some 50k of riding.
Hope that heps.

I’ve had a pair of Forma adventure boots (black smooth leather ones rather than the brown suede looking ones) for a few years now and done a fair few miles. They’re still 100% waterproof and comfortable to walk about in. They come in long or ankle length.

I’ve also got a pair of Altberg Hogg all weather which double up as hiking boots. 17 years old, loads of riding and walking miles and still 100% waterproof. My wife’s Altberg Clubman’s were her only motorbike boots for 23 years and still 100% waterproof when they were retired 2 years ago.

If I could only have 1 pair of boots they would be Altberg’s - they last a lifetime so work out GVFM.

I agree with the Altberg Hogg if you want to do some walking around too. Mine are on their third set of soles. If you want (significantly) more protection my Sidi Adventure boots are waterproof, good for road riding and medium technical trails. You probably wouldn't want to walk more than half a mile in them though.
Just along for the ride.

Also an Altberg fan.
Clubman Roadster.
Worn everyday riding to/from and at work, waterproof in all weathers, and warm too.
A re- sole was about £85, and they're back as good as new.
Worth the initial outlay: buy once.

Thank you for the considered replies guys. Sounds like there's some great suggestions there. I shall study them closer. In the meantime I've ordered some Forma Adventure boots for my crf250Rally, and some Richa boots that look similar, oops. for my road bike.

I seem to have trouble with sizing boots, as I have short by wide feet, apparently, and I find the boots shrink in the central heating. Should I keep them covered in Dubin at all times?
