Hard to believe that 175kg weight figure is correct - 25kg below a CB500x, or just 5kg above the unfaired Triumph 400 single.

Maybe dry, without luggage, tank and tyres filled with Helium...

The chassis looks more of a geodetic structure using smaller diameter tubes. I've seen a video of the engine strip and it looks compact. The weight quoted is "dry"--we'll see when they weigh one!--I also note that they have done the same as the MTO7 and added a couple of cradle tubes to mount the bashplate--and make them replaceable if they get damaged. Also seen the 790 Dukes in a KTM dealership--the CF moto made model is better finished than the Austrian one. Also CF moto make a lot of stuff for KTM anyway so they are selling them in the KTM dealerships with full KTM warranty and spares support--whats not to like! (KTM are moving more production to China).

Yep, don't believe the Kove weight either 😁.

Both they and CF moto are at least attempting the holy grail of a lightweight twin cylinder adventure bike. A mini-790R, if you will.

That Kove link was for the 800?. I really don't see that its false--my son's 1983 R80 G/S is 168kg DRY!!--and feels like it--especially when most of the weight is low down. The BMW F650 X challenge is about the same so the 450 TWIN CF MT weight is about right (Dry)--its just that most bikes have simply got too lardy as manufacturers have not really concentrated on the dual sport market with regards to weight--simply Power! (most of which is not usable offroad anyway).

indeed, they've added so much power that they now have to take it away again with traction-control etc.
I'm blessed if I know how anyone who isn't a pro racer can use the power of even an old KTM 950 to the full...I certainly can't.

My mate Andrew (mid 60's) rides a 990R on TKC70's. We regularly ride out and he regularly leaves me standing, even if I'm on my Dragster, let alone the 701. How embarrassing is that ! He's the only person I know who can ride a 990 'balls out'. He won the South Midlands over 50's MX championship in 2010 & came 2nd in 2011 on a 585cc KTM, I suppose that helps a bit ? :D

There was an Asia-Pacific? launch of the 450MT in the Philippines last month with a few video impressions now out.
This Ozzie one from a couple of days ago is good.

A 175kg (dry) 450cc motorbike. No thankyou. But then again there isn't much that could beat my 690,
for weight and power.
