I did see the Voge 300, CF Moto and Benelli bikes on the MotoGB stand and the new Himalayan from Royal Enfield but apart from those there was little else of interest to me at the Nec show.

I went to the NEC show and I really liked the new BMW R1300GS...much smaller and better proportioned, imho. I also like the new Suzuki GSXS1000GX (same engine in it as my bike)...but I was slightly disappointed with the VStrom 800RE that seemed a bit ungainly in looks but it does get a good review. Based on looks alone, I'd buy the Transalp 700 over it, if I was in the market for that type of bike. But then again, I don't like 21" front wheels on the road so maybe I wouldn't... :?

Dave, is this bike going to be imported? If so, any indication of price?

I think that is the Rally Pro version (the really light one) and it was shown at 13,000€ (about £11,100) on the stand at EICMA

I'm not sure all 3 versions listed at EICMA will come to the UK or who will sell them here.

Looks bloody great though!!

So i guess i was not wrong about the weight of 800 rally. Gary put it on scale :
162kg with 3,5l of fuel, so approximately 155kg dry! And around 175 kg with full gas tank.

Copied from a Facebook post,

That is crazy light for a 800cc bike! Total game changer in the mid-weight class.

It's about the same weight as a twin cylinder 800cc rally bike from the 80's, it's what bikes in this class should weigh but there are some parts missing and I'd guess this is a pre production bike for testing. I'm not sure but it doesnt appear to have ABS which is going to restrict it in some markets other than being a single seat competition machine. I'd also guess there's not catalytic converter.
Good looking bike though, reminds me of what an F650GD/GD should have evolved into, any thoughts on prices yet.
