Hi, I read toady about the various fuel strikes in France this week. Does anyone know how this is affecting the availability of petrol? I am landing in Cherbourg Friday morning and heading down the west side of France towards Spain, I have about a 300 mile range but have about 560 miles to go, am I likely to struggle to refuel? Thanks in advance.

What route are you taking? I believe Cherbourg/Rennes/Nantes/Niort/Bordeaux is ok on the services but you pay for them. Having done it recently I would certainly carry some spare fuel and get fuel if you see it available.

Thanks, I am not sure of my route yet. I tend to make it up as I go along a bit. I am leaving Cherbourg Friday morning and heading roughly for Pau. I generally avoid motorways and often fill up at Supermarkets where I can.

Very hit and miss at mo, Autoroutes will all have fuel, but little stations are sometimes limiting fuel as well, be prepared to queue. We use fuel flash app, which shows prices and availability within a radious of your location.

I read on one of the Face-ache groups that the fuel issues are mainly in the North. Arrive with a full tank, and from what I've read you should be OK if heading south.

Noticed that in France last month, that the Total fuel stations were some 20 cents cheaper than all the supermarkets.

I think Total are French state owned, maybe the reason why ?

Thanks everyone. Now in Spain. Had no problems,a few garages were out of derv. Mobile is substantially cheaper, I paid 1:46 once, I saw over 1:90 a couple of times. I’ll see what it is like in Spain tomorrow.
