Maccas
I was searching for accommodation in Maccas, But it was so crowded and crazy, So I took a chance to ride on wards and look. And I was so lucky, I saw a sign "Hosteria 700 m" pointing in a small dirt road, I took that detour, And what a place, Nice architecture, nice owner that showed me around, Pool that was feed by water from the mountain via pipes, No chemicals, A creek that also had clean water. Possible to bath in. Nice buildings. Everything top quality,
After a shower, I took a swim in the pool. Dinner was prepared to order, No old food waiting,
Morning swim in the creek and a huge cup of coffee woke me up. And a nice breakfast a bit later,
A real resort. Best place that I have stayed at so far. And it was one km dirt road to the closest houses, So very quiet and safe, Relaxing place. Not an amusement place. 18 USD total. For nice room, breakfast and access to the area,

Macara End of Ecuador for this time
I hope that I during the day will be able to enter Peru.
So here are 3 pictures from the boarder town,
=
I could write a lot more about Amazonas part.
When there is no winter or summer.
Only more or less rain,
And how it affects architecture and culture,
But....Enjoy the pictures

Re: South American tour
The Himalayan fuel gauge does not drop evenly as you have found, always best to set the trip meter.
On my Himalayan (with zero luggage but ridden hard) I get approximately 15 miles to a litre=24km per litre. When the 'F' starts to flash on the speedometer there is approximately 50 miles=80 kilometres until empty.
Eventually you will get to learn your own fuel range but until then hopefully this will give a guide.

Open your eyes and you see what is in front of you, open your mind and you see a bigger picture but open your heart and you see a whole new World.

Entering Peru
Out of Ecuador: Easy
In to Peru: Easy for myself. For the bike, there was so much information that was needed. It took time but not complex.
But...I needed to buy a SOAT. And I did not have enough dollars left from Ecuador time. And no soles yet. Pay with card: Ha, nix.
I could borrow the missing money from another traveler. Just go to next ATM and fill up and pay back.
5 km away. Bank with no ATM. 45 km away. ATM that did not accept MC but VISA. I had one of each. So it worked. But with very limited amount.
The strategy to pass the border and stop at first ATM to fill up with cash, did not work well. Not even money changers at this small crossing.
Peru is so far the most "cash only" country.
I continued to a hotel. And next day I spent a day riding in the mountains.
I got so lost on some small dirt roads that I had to ask a "machete man" on a small bike to guide me out to the main road again.

Pan American
Well, here we go.
It will be some miles on the highway. To have time and money to spend later.
Dry and windy. Towns full of tuk-tuks.
Unexcpected, it is much more expensive than in Colombia.

Pan American rest stop
In the cities there are a lot of them.
So my bike got to meet some local friends
Coffee break. Some rest also for me.
This was actually this days lunch break.
I love these local places. They are not frequent in these dessert areas.
But good when I found them.
What a difference compared to rest stops along autobahn.
Next: Passing Lima. Something that I really would like to avoid. But I can't see any way to avoid it.
