a few weeks ago I toke a little journey to see a potential new bike for myself as I had a few days before next work shifts and this journey was passing through some parts of the Country I had never really visited the shopping turned in to a little road tour, which evolved in to a little 4 day road/trail trip. The bike was situated in the Surrey Hills which turned out to be a nice place by luck there was YHA hostel in a real nice bit of woodland nearby, I camped in their Garden and had a nice evening walk perfect after the full day ride Eastward from home off the M4 after the Severn. After viewing the bike I spent the next 3 days completing a kind of triangle down to the south coast (Chichester) soon getting fed up of the heat and traffic down there and wiggling my way back up to Chippenham. Super dry conditions made the trails ripe for picking off even with road tyres and top heavy luggage, the trails being mainly very simple stuff not super interesting but different in nature and interestingly usually limited to 2 wheelers. Did come across a nice guy on a freeride who invited me for a few miles which kept me honest on the fat yellow machine, typically he had me through some relatively tricky ruts at a lively for a GS pace, Something I really enjoyed was the variety of wildlife seen, the land at times appeared managed with an eye for wildlife management probably with a mind to put lead in to it. Saw a sign for Goodwood at one point put 2 and 2 together came up with 5 a nosey look over a wall at one point happened to be adjacent to the start traps? of "Glorious Goodwood" horses not vehicles, a TV camera was stuck at me and ended up being on live ITV to my mates at home great amusement. Eventually found the proper race track all very oldie world, wandered about Portsmouth military seawall defences chose not to pay £13 to visit the LCT and D-Day museum there soon got fed up of all the people and headed back away from the coast found a cracking spot to camp with a great walk around the area both evening and dawn. I imangine I was riding through some of The Downs etc, recommend it for easy big bike trailing lots are graded and only gentle inclines for the most part. here are a few pics.
