I got to do this to my crf250Rally.

https://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=https%3A ... pCh51WCJnQ

Easy enough .... but all those fairings and bash plate too, got to come off.. and then back on..........
Its having the EBC friction plates CK1313, (just like for my previous crf250L),,
and EBC csk188 HD clutch springs (as i couldn't find the Barnett HD springs).
The EBC are only 15% stronger. Not too worried as the main culprit (of the worn-out clutch), is that silly thin Slipper Clutch, by Honda.

£66 ..... as opposed to CRF's only of nearly £200 ??? (tho has the steel plates too, but are not needed?)

how did the tyres and mousses go ??

different, of course. Harder than I expected, tarmac and trail, but they are not worn in, or used, yet. I expect them to get softer. I could feel every stone on trail, but hooked up well and gave more confidence. I must get used to the different feel. I was expecting them to be much much softer, but will get to that I expect. Felt ok tracking on tarmac.

I had previously tried the front mousse, but on a very used MT21, which had been re-fitted by mistake, and it felt perfect, although a bit insecure feeling, as you would expect from a bald tyre. It was supple and felt smooth, but the new tyres, Maxxcross IT, have stiff sidewalls, and deep knobblies, so that is why the ride, off road , felt so harsh. On road, they felt firm and confidence inspiring. They are bound to get softer with use, off road, with time, but I'm glad they are feeling firm to start, as, apparently, they are long lasting. I was expecting the tyres and mousses combo to feel squirmy on tarmac, but they were nice and firm. Off road, unexpectedly harsh, to start, anyway.

Garyboy that’s very useful information as I’m considering using mouses on my next tyre change. I’m currently running TKC80 which I have found to be better than expected on both road and trail and I’ve recently returned from completing the ACT Pyrenees on them. Can you keep us informed on how the combo works as you put more miles on them.
Cheers

Well, I've done it .. I've gone and ordered a yss rear shock for my CRF 250 Rally.
Obviously, I've ordered the shock for the 250L .. lol. Hope it will fit ok :)
The recommended shock for the Rally is 420mm long, but the L is 395mm long. A full 25mm shorter .. but my legs must be at least a full 25mm shorter than the average Rally rider lol. Actually, a lot more, shorter.

I've checked and rechecked the measurements.. and they are the same for say a 2014/16 L as a 2019 Rally.... But 25 shorter. as I suspected, as it's all basically the same bike.

30,10 top and bottom, 56dia int spring, 45 dia top, around 90kg rider, 215 spring length, mz456 395 (or 420) tr etc

I phoned a renowned suspension seller, and he had never heard of putting an L shock in a Rally. He didn't recommend it as the travel would be compromised .. but I explained that height was more important to me,. He wanted £394 .. but , er, sorry .. ebay does that shock for 332.

I reckon it will fit 8-) . I think some of our American cousins do the same swap, with success.

When you get the yss shock check the bottom rebound setting ..count cluck to fully unwound as some are fully hard...

...as said, that is a good tip.
One thing that works for me, is setting a bikes suspension back to the 'factory' settings when I get a new 'used' bike and then go from there. I've had a few bikes where the previous owner has either got the clicks all the way in or all the way out...or the preload on the max or on the minimum etc. etc.... :o. It's still a dark art though, for me (suspension set-up) :? .

OK .. so what do I preset my (soon to be delivered) rear shock to??

It's a yss shock mz456 shock of 395 length, spring length 215. It's for an "L" CRF 250 , but should fit the 250 Rally ok.
It's described as, for a 75-95 kg rider.
I am 90 kg with no clothes on (wipe that image lol), and ride 'easy to medium' trails, at a fairly low pace.

Roughly where would I set the rebound .. say midway of clicks?.. full out? .. full in? ..
Also the preload setting? and compression damping, if available?
In terms of clicks or rough like , midway, quarter, three quarter positions. ... Nothing too technical .. jus ball park settings,

For...
[Initial settings, prior to installation.]..... (fine adjustments later)..
Thank you :)
