A change in riding habits means my 2005 KTM EXC 525 is up for sale.
Purchased by me in 2019, it has been little used due to a health condition, but has been maintained regardless of cost with frequent oil and filter changes. It has electric and kick starts, and starts very easily. New parts recently fitted include rear wheel-bearings, brake pads and retaining springs, and the forks have been serviced. A small Hebo toolbag is mounted on the rear fender.
A previous owner accessorised the machine to a very high spec, including aftermarket footpegs, rear brake pedal with ‘brake snake’, gear lever, ally bashplate, metal handguards and more. It also features a vaguely tasteless ‘Bad Boy’ graphics kit which your 13-year-old son will think is ‘really cool’.
I recently fitted new Pirelli Rallycross MT21 tyres, which offer a good compromise between road and dirt, and a set of part-worn Maxis enduro tyres is included in the sale. I examined the inside of the rims when the tyres were off, and they appeared free of corrosion. The standard exhaust system is in place.
Also included in the sale are the original KTM manual and parts books, a WP manual for the forks, and a Haynes workshop manual. There is a box of useful bits including spare filters (air and oil), washers, seals and drainplug, some Motrex engine oil, etc.
This example has been used for the intended purpose, so is not cosmetically perfect (see pics). If this worries you, please do not bother to come and view the bike.
This is a fully road-legal bike, complete with V5 in my name, and is ideal for trail-riding (or racing, if you are brave). The numberplate is certified to be of minimum legal size, and is illuminated (now an MoT requirement). I will put on a fresh MoT if the full purchase price is offered.
These machines are appreciating fast as the sohc KTM engine is now held to be superior to its dohc replacement. In view of this, I think a price of £2800 is fair. Sorry, no test rides unless proof of insurance is provided and the full asking price left with me as deposit.
PM me for further details…the bike is located near the A30 in East Cornwall.
