Re: E10 Fuels
Strange, my 2004 runs perfectly well on E10. It’s still going strong at 17 years old and I’ve owned it from new. Half of that time was in the land of the Autobahn and it always performed admirably. It still does come to that.Scott_rider wrote: ↑Mon Nov 01, 2021 5:06 pm ^^^...I've just sold my '03 Porsche Boxster 2.7 ...a good car and sounds a lot posher and more expensive than it actually was...anyway, it had a flat six 228bhp engine that loves to rev right to the rev limiter at 7,000rpm and it makes power all the way through the rev range. It simply refused to run properly on E5 let alone E10. When I say properly I mean of course it would run but it felt like it had lost about 30bhp every time I ran it on on anything other than Shell V-max 98 fuel. The difference was substantial.
p.s. I only sold it because I had 2 years of driving it like a loon because it was so addictive...
It looks even better the right way up!

Re: E10 Fuels
I reckon try one or two tank fulls of 98 octane in it and you’ll notice the difference. It worth a few extra quid as an experiment. Mine definitely ran a lot, lot better on higher octane fuel. Everyone has a different opinion though and this is worth a read...

Re: E10 Fuels
Do you really think that I haven’t run it on high octane fuel in 17 years? Against the clock on a circuit or a hillclimb the difference might be measurable, in the real world it’s not. I guess your Boxster had a faulty ECU.Scott_rider wrote: ↑Wed Nov 03, 2021 6:28 pm I reckon try one or two tank fulls of 98 octane in it and you’ll notice the difference. Are you a Tory MP? You don’t seem to like people using facts or standing up against fake news or scaremongering.

Re: E10 Fuels
Curiosity has got the better of me, we have two old vehicles with identical engines, one very high mileage and one a lot less, 300k and 98k, both perform pretty much the same. Last week we consecutively filled them both with Tesco 98 after running on E10, the 98k vehicle performed noticeably better but the 300k felt no different. Both are US spec 4l six cylinder engines which I think were designed to work on E10 from new.
We also filled the 350EXC's with the 98 and noticed no difference, I'd conclude that it may make a noticeable difference on some vehicles but not on others.
