A lot of talk about the Brasilian virus, apparenrly one passenger from Brasil brought it into the country by plane.
You would think that they did not know that on an aeroplane the cabin air is recirculated through the engines, so you share each others germs.
Suspect that it is the same on the ferries and that the air in the cabiins is recirculated through a pump in the engine room.
Think that I being an old guy will holiday up north this summer.

If you wanted to invent a device for spreading Covid, then you'd do well to beat a pressurised aircraft cabin.

Seriously wonder why air travel is still allowed when you can't even get in your car and drive to the beach (where the risk of covid is about zero).

It's extremely difficult to understand the logic of this. There was a guy who didn't fill in his card properly and now they can't find him. How did he get in?

There is a pandemic, close the airports. If people must fly - quarantine them. We all knew that was how this worked long before Covid came along. I guess rich people like to fly so we all have to suffer.

I hope our government all go to prison after this.

My understanding is that cabin air is partially recycled through filters but also completely changed every couple of minutes. I'd be more worried in some non air conditioned airport lounges or runway buses that I've been in, which of course you often have to use to get to your plane.

Dont see why they cant find the person ? They sell the tickets (mainly online ) They have the passsenger lists ? They scan all the passports on entry normally ? The passport has lots of info on it ? At least a name ? ATPI STUFF ...... ffs..............

Time to bring back smoking on planes, at least the air was refreshed periodically

It's an understandable concern, but not sure you're quite right there Richard. The actual period of travel within the plane is comparatively safe, because of the HEPA filtration, which is effective against viruses. It's the whole process of international air travel that poses the risks. Time spent in airport lounges, shops, hotels, on transfer buses, trains etc etc... - all increase the viral load - and from international sources.

Would be really surprised if those filters could block the virus, just think of the pressure required to push the air through the filter, more pressure equals big pump, equals more power consumed, equals more cost to run, most airlines are running at the lowest possible cost.

A heating engineer who comes into work said that during the start of this he was asked to check and renew aircon filters to make sure they filtered out Covid, he said do you realise how small a virus is!
Not a hope in he'll of aircon filtering it
