I owned a DR350, then a DRZ400E. On both of them the lighting needing drastic upgrading. So I employed a small man with a candle to walk ahead of me on the trail. Huge improvement.

Looking at some of the recent comments, my answer would be that the CRF is not an amazing bike but it does represent great value for money and a good all rounder. Just had a phone call from my local Honda dealer in Peterboghorror--I wanted to have a crawl around one so put my name down for a test ride(the plan is to do a carbon/kevlar bashplate like we do for the 250--but Honda have changed the frame and bashplate at the rear--and the side panels--even though it looks the same). Anyway, he said that he can't get a demo and any not already ordered won't be available until October. He mentioned that so many have been sold in the UK already--more than the 2019/20 sales of the 250 rally put together----so Honda are suffering from over popularity combined with obvious supply issues.

something ive never thought about tbo ..not sure what advantage a 400 wheel would have ,,i can tell you the axle width is 17mm on the 17s and 15 on the 13s ..im using 450x forks and wheel which are i think 20mm

Spoke to my local Honda dealer today about the Rally, he said Honda UK have sold over 700 of them and my dealer has 30 open orders. If I want one and place an order this week then they are looking delivery October to January.

Test ride on a 701 Enduro and Tenere 700 booked !!

Is it really fair on the little CRF to pitch it against a Husky 701 ? Quite apart from the cost difference, the Husky is a fully fledged mid-large accomplished on/off-road bike with high end suspension and lots of power. I don't know much about the T7 except that it looks like a really good all-rounder, and therefore more similar to the CRF, - but again much more powerful and more suited to distance touring etc.

If they were magically all the same money to buy then the CRF would obviously struggle to get any buyers at all, but they're not.

It wasn't a direct comparison, its just the three bikes i'm considering next.

T700 for a good road capable tourer with some genuine off-road ability on mixed and moderate trails
