Not wishing to give you the cobby wobbles...but...that is an indicator of a potential 'problem'. Upstairs is generally warmer for growing things and easier to keep out of sight from neighbours plus the loft space is accessible for the necessary ventilation...just saying but hopefully it's not the case and it's genuine. Worth a visit in a few weeks, as you say.

Re: Covid 19 Coronavirus
They are usually international gangs with houses all over the country.
1 room = £100K a year. They ask for a new gas check before they move in then they know they have a year before anyone needs to go round the house. When the next gas check is due they just move out, leaving everything except the next harvest.
JB - that sounds terrible, luckily I could do all the work myself. Wipes out lots of profit.

Re: Covid 19 Coronavirus
Must be a popular pastime, next door to my workmates was the same, seemed like a lovely Chinese family but wrecked the place with holes in ceiling and huge bills to sort out, it was in a nice respectable area as well. Also a large town centre building that we sometimes have to visit to repair internet circuits, the place was unmanned and we visited alone. There was a small fire caused by vandals and when putting it out they discovered a massive cannabis farm in the basement, they had built full living quarters for a few people and took an age to clear out, glad I didn't find it. Hopefully all is well with your tenants, as in the majority of cases.

Ours was all done via an Agency
References all checked out and were impeccable
Bonds left with Agent
A very elaborate scam
Cost us £20k in repairs
I doubt you would have spotted it either and we weren’t greedy, just renting out a (deceased) relatives house
We buy things we don't need
With money we don't have
To impress people we don't even like

So most of us can kiss goodbye to any summer travel plans or jaunts on our bikes

Re: Covid 19 Coronavirus
...industry standard is a property check every 3 months and a right of access in between times if the landlord thinks something is wrong and as long as he gives the tenant 24 hours notice of entry. If the tenant doesn't respond to the request for entry then he can enter the property without them being there.
