Because a lot of the time, people just like to associate themselves with the comments of the poster but have no need to add anything.
It also stops the topic getting stupidly long with loads of smilies or whatever.
It would also be nice do have a 'don't agree' button - maybe a thumbs up or thumbs down option?

Personally not that bothered about the like button although don't object to it (or the don't like button)

The main thing that has reduced the posting on the forum is the much shorter recent topics page. The result is that if you don't look in here too often a topic of interest may well already have fallen off the bottom.

Agree a like button would be great Most sites / forums have them.

I'm sure there is a 'Like' mod for this software. There are 1000s of addons some of which are awesome. Some not so much.

I do agree with the comment on having a longer recent topics list though.

I did wonder was it just me in feeling the forum has lost something but I couldn't put my finger on it.

I liked the old one where you logged on and immediately saw the list of threads and new posts since last visit. I use some other forums and they still have that feature and now realise it's essential for a forum to feel alive. Now you have to keep looking to find a topic or thread.

The like feature was a nice way of adding to a topic or simply saying a thank you without repeating a post.

Couldn't care less about like buttons, they're far too Facebooky for my liking, if i really like someones post then i'll take the few seconds to type a reply.
As for the 'recent posts' not going back far enough....... Umm hello ! You just click on the next page of recent posts, there are page numbers in boxes at the top, or is that too much hassle for some of you as well.

Hopefully someone from the ABR team could comment on the queries??
