You will be very suprised how much of a £1 donated actually gets to the coal face of any decent sized charity. I now only ever give to smaller charities the one that dont pay their fund raisers a small fortune. There are charities out there that own large property portfolios. It's a sad state of affairs cheers Spud ;)

I was in the audience of this Charity concert

and while did raise some £25m and did do great and good, one has to ask if all the funds reached those who it should and not the military  and War Pigs  who stole and squandered it :(

Now it seems that history is once more repeating itself...

Someone I know was a fundraiser for Help for Heroes but then left to join Afghan Heroes.

However I believe he is no longer with them. I wonder if this is why, think i'll have a word and see what I can discover

If this is true then it is sickening :(

Yes I got that email sent too, I sent it to a mate he wrote the following back.

'Afghan Heroes is No Longer a Charity they are a Company limited by Guarantee'

tbh none of that means a great deal to me other than no longer a Charity.

I have not Supported them as I sent an email asking what will happen to the AH, when
we pull out, obviously quite a bit of ££ will be needed for after care.

Besides I am a member of the RBLR British Legion Riders Branch & help support them

Note Rode of Respect is nothing to do with AH but last year ride monies went to AH to assist.

I go back to what I said earlier, I always ask "how much of my £1 will get to be used at the coal face" I have had answers as low as 10p so 90p gets swollowed up in admin, wages ect. Until this recent slump you could make a decent living working in a charity.
I always give my money to the likes of "curryaid" and my local charities. It's sad really cheers Spud ;)

I have been sneered at in other places for point blank refusing to join in with anything organised by people like this, for just this reason. There are a lot of charities out there run by honest people who work on a donation basis. As soon as they set a fixed fee for something like a "wristband" I suspect the worse.

Don't stop giving just be more aware of who you give to. Not to the cycnical who profit from others.

The Devon Air Ambulance was at an event I was at near Dartmoor a couple of weeks back and they had been donated a whole load of goodies and were virtually throwing them away, as any donation got a "prize" ... not a fixed price per "unit". Nobody there was on the payroll , and all gave their time freely... well, as well as getting a free ticket in to see the bands :D
