A switch to the dark side.

Well I've pulled the trigger on a touring bike, the difference being this one is pedal power. I have decided to give cycle touring a go and will be picking up a Kalkhoff Endeavour today complete with all the touring kit. This bike is hub geared and belt drive. I already have cycle panniers etc and will be off on my first trip in a couple of weeks. I plan to tackle the trans pennine trail. I plan to tour in the UK only (at least for now) and stick to as many cycle routes as possible. Wish me luck guys as it has been a few years.

I will post some up when I have picked up the bike. What surprised be was when I saw a shaft drive bike! And no it wasn't a BMW.

About 6 months ago I purchased a cheap mountain bike, to enable me to go on bicycle ride outs with my grandson and was sceptical that I would ever take cycling seriously after a few ride outs I really took to it, to such a degree that I have sold my GSX 1250 and am now an avid cyclist, I am finding that I get a bigger buzz going out on my push bike than I ever did on my motor bikes,I am also saving a lot of cash ,motor bike ownership was akin to shovelling money into a pit at times. Will I ever go back to owning a motor bike maybe but doubtful.

I have also found that I'm enjoying mountain biking and road riding much more than riding my motorbike at the moment.... (thumbs)

I rode a belt drive push bike once and it was an amazing feeling!

I'm on the tipping point too, I fancy a electric MTB for the trails we sadly can't use on a motorbike anymore
