Yamaha TTR250 who has one or had one , what do you think of the bike , I bought one recently and it seems like it's got a lot going for it in terms of small cc adventure bike , air cooled , 6speed , electric and kick start , I think with a bigger fuel tank , oil cooler , and a few bits it will be a good bike , your thoughts gentlemen and ladies ?? (thumbs)

I owned an earlier Jap import, no kickstart, other than that the same as later blue ones.
Did me proud for eight years, good spare parts situation.
Used for trail riding and a few long distance trials.
Plenty of go in the engine, bit of tuning improves the suspension.

Owned it's big brother TTR600 for the last few years, better on road.

Brill little bikes, good on fuel only ever been on reserve once on mine,that's after a serious long day in Spain. Never let me down, mine goes anywhere, was my way back to trail riding and will never sell it. Spares are easy to get, and there an easy bike to work on. Only good words to say,love it, always puts a smile on me face.

Suzuki dr250 djebel is air cooled,big fuel tank ,oil cooler ,electric foot and 30 bhp for similar money or less

Yep I had one cracking wee bike as you can see in my profile pic .. only problem I found was getting parts for the suspension ..ended up getting a complete bottom rocker.linkages and bearings in cracking condition from ebay US ..still got the bottom rocker n linkages n sold bike before I'd got round to fitting them ..

I think Lois Pryce might have a thing or two to say about the TTR250 as she has travelled around a large portion of the world on hers with no major problems.

I had one of the later blue ones, good bike but I just didn't gel with it. I went back to a DR350.

I am just in the process of stripping one for shot blasting/powdercoating.
The parts are really easy to get hold of at totallyTTRs.com ...the owner Steve, is really great & helpful.
..its decent bikes that are the problem-it has taken me 2 years to get the TTR's I need.
The furthest I travelled & returning empty handed was to Paignton from York. The bike was a shed.

Thanks Rod , I have spoken to steve via the ttr site , he told me the bike I bought was a good one looking forward to getting out on it when I get back from my travels (thumbs)
