I did sit down and run through how many I could grab easily and to date i have not had to deviate from my normal commuting route by more than 2 miles!

Living in Milton Keynes does mean the coastal ones are going to take a bit more thought, the nearest Blue Flag Beach for instance is at least a six hour round trip!

I'm planning a nice bag of chips and a cuppa reward for my trip to Sutton on Sea for the beach shot (thumbs)

I found this guide to the blue flag beaches - looks up to date

https://www.thebeachguide.co.uk/best-be ... e_flag.htm

The rest are currently a mystery :)

Yes that's the one I used, looks like Southwold might be my nearest at 129 miles away.

On the plus side, as well as a Blue Flag Beach it does also have a Lighthouse, the Estuary of the River Blyth is not far, there will be Yachts moored there and as the North Sea has been confirmed as part of the Atlantic Ocean it would be a "five in one" trip

A - Airfield

Cranfield Airport, a tricky one to get as all decent views of the airfield are blocked by all the Cranfield University buildings around it!

Well I'm half way there already 13 out of 26 and quite impressed how easy it has been. Luckily I have a choice of four or five different routes for my daily 29 mile commute and I've been lucky enough to pick up all 13 with minimal deviation.

5 have been directly on my commuting route(s)
1 was only 200 yards off the route (and only half a mile from my house)!
2 were only 200 yards off route
3 Required a detour of less than a mile
1 needed a 2 mile detour and
1 needed a 3 mile detour

I've identified another three all within a couple of miles from home and another that's 20 miles away (Whipsnade Zoo) but then it gets tricky being stuck right in the middle of the Country (i.e. a lack of coasts, lighthouse, international borders etc)!

That BMW just has to belong to one of the sad Controllers at Cranfield ATC or an RT examiner at the School and it's the nearest they could get to VHF? ...
