If that's the case then I've got no need for Sky because they're the only channels I watch outside of the usual BBC / ITV

Yep. A statement has gone out saying that but I'm hoping one of the two sides will change their minds.

There was a scroll bar across the top of a number of channels last night saying from 1st Feb they will no longer be available on SKY (Quest, Discovery etc).
I'm with Virgin Media (but not by choice [initially] as we couldn't get a SKY signal where we are). But now it might not be a bad thing.
With reference to the Discovery Channel[s] and similar, it seems strange as one of SKY's bundles was around documentaries etc.

Sky is arguing over paying Discovery a fair amount for their channels wanting to put any savings into their excessive Sports budget. As long as Discovery can find another outlet I think they should stick to their guns on licensing fees.

I'm hoping for a 11th hour deal between the two. I'd love to jump ship to Virgin but they haven't arrived with me yet.

Offer is only to 31 Jan, after that it goes back up to £5 ish a month.
The phoneapp works with Chromecast.

With the number of apps, downloads, dodgy set top boxes etc watching it all for free, I'm surprised Sly have any paying customers left. A news story in the papers today states that the fallout rate (loosing customers) is exceptionally high. There's also plans afoot for Sly to start a cable service for those who can't / won't have a dish, or can't get a signal

Then send it to a chrome cast plugged into your tv then away you go free moto gp etc
I'm a techno idiot and I managed to get it working
