15 years ago when I set up Adventure Travel magazine i knew that I wanted a job that would involve at least one of the following travel/mountains/motorcycles or rugby. I couldn't find one so made my own and Adventure Travel magazine was born.
What would be your dream job?
Your dream job?
Re:Your dream job?
I think i am pretty close, i make bits for motorbikes with my little cnc machine. I spend most days whilst it is whirring away trying to think of stuff to make that is new and useful.
Its fairly easy to think of stuff, its having the extra time required to make it that spoils my fun, especially if it is just a one off part for my own bike as i have to work out when i can stop the machine to fit my own little jobs in

Moving slowly but surely towards my Adventure Touring Company.
Did a trial run this year across the US and didn't lose anyone so I'm guessing I'm going in the right direction :woohoo:

Re:Your dream job?
Have to say seting up something that takes folk just out of their comfort zone. Did some sailing trips last year looking to develop on the theme.
Re:Your dream job?
A bike shop but I have too many ideas for it I'd need to refine it a little.
Old and new bikes.
Bike repairs etc
An area for people to bring their bike and fix
Cafe / pub / camping
Internet
Stop off point for bike training
Clothes new and secondhand
Id leave my job and let my two grown up kids run it so I could go off and ride my bike in some exotic locations.

Re:Your dream job?
Well, I thought I'd found it, working as a 2nd line desktop engineer, a job I enjoyed, different sites to visit, but I believe the job I've had for the last three yrs is hard to beat!
I work for Gleaner oil & gas Ltd as an engineer. I travel around the N.E of Scotland servicing central heating boilers, one week a month I travel to the Western Isles to install LPG bulk tanks so my job involves a lot of travel around God's country, all at the company's expense! Next week I'm covering the Grantown on Spey area as our engineer is on holiday, imagine touring around the Grantown/Aviemore area for a week, meeting interesting people, all paid for by your employer? DAMN!
I've worked on bikes in the past but it's my passion, my love, so working on them full time taints my enjoyment!
I prefer to keep bikes for my personal amusement, not for work!

Honda, the power of dreams.
Re:Your dream job?
TBH I would like to make my money being a full time cartoon illustrator - I do it part time anyway, but I would struggle to get enough to live on I think, unless I was really lucky.
Looks like I need to start looking for another job anyway, looks like a load of us are being made redundant in a couple of weeks
Anyone want a cartoonist? B)
Or maybe Technical Sales/BDM Manager/Director (Fire and Smoke Engineering)?

Re:Your dream job?
Like everyone else, we thought our dream job would be to run our own business doing something we love. So, we started 'Off Road France' providing guided off road tours for people with 4x4 vehicles and a sense of adventure.
It has been tough going. It started with lots and lots of reconnaissance (getting stuck, spending most of our time digging ourselves out of boggy, inhospitable places, etc.) and, at first, customers were very thin on the ground if not totally invisible!
However, hard work, patience and persistence DOES pay off. Two years down the line and we, and our customers, are now having a great time.
Suits 'im perfectly, but is it my dream job? Well... no.
Though my off road driving skills are OK, my map reading skills leave a lot to be desired I must admit. So, I mainly deal with admin, lunches, etc.
Now I'm a bike convert and addict I think my dream job would be to spend my time travelling around the world and writing about my adventures.
