Rear Rack?

Post by herman »

I want to make a simple flat plate for the rear of the S10 as the current set up is ugly, heavy and over complicated. Currently my givi plate is mounted to a Yam plate then the Yam top box mount which is daft but usable. The mounts are good being directly into the subframe and wide enough apart. The plate will be 300x270mm so what thickness should I use in Ali I guess? plus where do you buy it? Ta muchly. Image

I bought some off ebay via Aalco...you know the huge place up nursling near the daily echo and volvo truck place....
came in a sheet about 1mtr long various width and thickness....think mine was 6mm...used it for alsorts..lol

maybe worth a call for damaged stuff (thumbs)

mounted my solent plastics 16ltr "pelicase copy" direct to the ccm rear rack ..its going no where..the ally is inside the topbox and acts as to stop flexing with big penny washers and m6 bolts..

hi, I needed a rear rack that would carry my roll bag and wife and extras, so I designed this all out of ali and bolt together, by the time you fit bag and tarp wife has backrest, and 2 extra bags slid on sides carry all cooking gear ect,

Hi I took the s10 plastic rack off and made an adapter plate out of 4mm thick ali I got from the srap pile of a local engineering firm then bolted the Givi rack to that more slmple than it sounds jusr
T needs an angle grinder/hacksaw drill & spanners etc

When I bought my S10 I fitted one of these, problem was you need the Yamaha base for the topbox to mount the plate and my base model didn`t have one luckily the dealer had one spare that they gave to me otherwise £100 for a new one

problem was after a year of use the ali plate started to crack around the rear bolt hole so I got rid of the Yam topbox mount and fitted one of these

advantage is that I can fit my slime pump in between the metal plates under the box plate and it can`t be removed unless the passenger seat is taken off.
