Iv just heard it will be closed till at least January , and their talking about re introducing a ferry service . This morning there was an 11mile Que. on the alternative route.

Its obviously rusted, what a surprise its made out of steel.
That's what happens when you do not do proper inspections and keep up on the painting, more cut backs?

I'd be surprised if they can get that sorted in 3 weeks, I bet plenty of staff are volunteering to work overtime on it at triple time + :laugh:

20mm open crack, 8 areas of suspected defect and the cables within the huge cables are snapping. This said, I think (as it is still open to emergency services) motorcycles, sidecars and trike should be petitioned to use it!

I'd not seen anything regarding the actual problems but if it's as you say then the inspection work could take months if they start finding deeper issues.

I always use the M74 then go Glasgow, Perth, Dundee when I'm going to our Aberdeen office but the Glasgow to Perth section could get busier if traffic from NE England takes a longer detour.
