on a bmw r1200gs, how do you tie down the bike best.
I tied mine through the bottom telelever and up over the yoke, on both sides, then one over the seat.
worked fine for 2 long trips, then just as i got home one of the front straps snapped right at the point the telelever rubs on the strap, clean line at that point.
thankfully only a minor scratch on the front wheel, but want to avoid it next time, can anyone tell me the best way to attach it please?

Ride it?
On a more serious note if its your own trailer make up and weld in some tie down points that stop it going sideways but also keeps the straps away from the bike so they don't rub. The ideal is to minimise or stop any movement. A channel for the wheels is good. The front one cant be deep because of the discs but it can also be vertical at the front to act as a stop.

3 ratchet straps:
1 each side to each footpeg or frame to stop side to side movement
Third at the front to under the headstock to stop the front bouncing
Will be rock solid
Was told this after travelling to Wales and arriving with my ZX7R at about 60 degrees lean as I had just done the back with a strap over the seat

wherever your straps touch a surface you should put a rubbing piece, I use bits of rubber backed carpet soft side in rubber side out. no rub no snap,
