I'm looking at purchasing some decent base and mid layers and I'm wondering what the folk on here would recommend. Any advice appreciated

Treaders Lycra works for me as a base layer.
Then cheap lightweight Trespass fleece as mid.

Merino wool base layer and rab windproof mid layer

all I wear under the bike jacket all winter and im toasty warm

I always wear Helly Hansen base layers and in the winter a North Face fleecey jumper. Never get cold.

Aldi do various base layers at differing times. I have some motorcycle compression base layers that are good.
They do cycling and running base layers. What the difference is I don't know.

Any merino wool should be good. I use a Halverssons one which is a mix of merino and outlast, its warm and very comfortable. No itching, be careful as if you can get itchy wearing wool it gets on your tits. For warmth i use an EDZ Yetti fleece. The idea with a base layer is not to sweat, thats what makes you cold.

Merino wool baselayer every time and a windstopper mid. Cycle shops are often good for windstopper gear.

I always go for the merino wool option if it's there because it doesn't stink after being worn for a day. I know I'm a dirty pig but I can wear the same merino wool base layer for a week and it still doesn't honk then when I finally decide to wash it I wear it in the shower and give it a quick rub over with shower gel and dry it overnight and it's good for another week.

Thanks for all the advice. I'm looking at the Halvarssons stuff at the minute so I'll see if I can find somewhere local to me where I can check it out.
