eBay Sellers and Warranty

Post by Thedktor »

OK here's the thing, bought a car phone charger couple of months back and its now expired. The eBay seller is refusing to help and I'm wondering what can be done.

It was only a few quid but on principal, as the seller is being so unhelpful, I want a resolution of some kind!

EBay don't seem to offer any support once the 28 days are up, or am I missing something?

Thanks for any suggestions...

I had a similar problem one time. Bought a second one, this mysteriously didn't work after getting it and sent it back for replacement........

You didn't see the BBC's Rogue Traders programme - you wouldn't be buying electrical items of ebay if you did. I buy of ebay, but would now only buy from trusted electrical manufacturers (and not off ebay most of it is fake).

(Sorry this doesn't help with your question).

Cheap stuff on ebay is cheap for a reason. I've done it also with a car phone charger, lasted about a fortnight, recently bought a set of bars, though not exactly cheap, they were rubbish quality, but I bought them cause they were cheaper than renthals.

Usual rules apply, buy cheap, buy twice, get over it, learn and move on, we've all done it.

I buy nearly everything off ebay, because I hate going into shops. There's usually not a problem but I am aware that if I buy something from China and it turns out to be crap I'm not going to the hassle and expense of sending it back so I wouldn't buy anything expensive from there. If you're expecting a one year gaurantee for something costing a couple of quid shop locally and keep your receipt.

How did you pay for it. If it was on credit card you can give them a call they may be able help, also if through PayPal they can also be a help. Distance selling right and consumer rights shouldn't really be affected. Not sure if you can open a case in ebay for faulty goods after a period or if mutually good feedback has been given by both parties.

The Ebay refund system can't be used as far as I could work out.

I think you've done well to have it last for 2 months.

I'm on my fourth phone charger in the last year. 1st one about £6 from a local garage lasted a week. They did exchange it though and that one lasted about 4 weeks, I gave up with them after that.

Next one on ebay cheap again stopped working after about a month. The one I have now is in its 7 month and is still working (fingers crossed it still will now I've jinxed it) and cost just under £20 from a phone shop.
