Anyone done this byway? Is it big Trailie friendly?
Drove past today and it looks ok from the start point and as its been so dry was wondering if the Dakar on Tourances could cope with it?

what ride out peejay, news to me ? can you put a link on your post please.
all the byeways around salisbury are bone dry and rutted so falling off will be a hard landing.
might be up for this whatever it is...
oh sorry the pennys just dropped "the great ridge" aka old roman road...sure it aint a byeway for traffic, the section through Grovely wood is private "footpath only"

Thanks Tramp, I thought well I'm heading down to the New Forest on the Dakar, so I thought what the hell a detour was worth it to have a look.
The Great Ridge is still a byway, so I had a bimble.
You are right all the other bits have been reclasified and are now restricted.
But the Great Ridge is big trailie friendly although a bit rutted in the middle bit, but I dare say if it was wet it would be a bit more difficult, but the Dakar coped very well in the dry, so a few pictures of the lane:

Done this one a couple of times before.
Be careful at weekends as i've seen a few 4x4 hurtling along the straights and they were not hanging around.

I was very polite and said 'Good Morning' and I slowed down a bit
And I rode it again on the way back.
