What a fantsatic couple of days. Really was very good. Learnt a huge amount of bike control and what the bikes a capable of.
Lovely bunch of people, others on the course and instructors.
I will be booking Level II in the near future for sure.
From failed hill climb recovery:
To wet muddy trails:

ah, the sun always shines when you are on your bike (if only inside your lid) - its a state of mind!Smelly Dog wrote:That can't be in Wales... it's not Raining.... so where is it ?
Cheers Browndog for the feedback - I am thinking of signing up for a course - and I think GreatScott is too.
Which bike did you opt for - and what were your thoughts?
Re: BMW Off Road Skills
I can reccomend the off road skills courses without hesitation. Did them several years ago ,the one thing I will say though is unless you are intending to offroad your own 1200 and want to practice picking one of theirs up then opt for a smaller bike. After 2 days of picking the 1200s up the guys with us had given up the will to live. IMO you'll learn more technique on the smaller ones and have more fun.
The secret of a long life is knowing when its time to go.
Re: BMW Off Road Skills
Lizzie and I have done courses with BMW, good times were had both on both weekends. Yes a big chunk of cash but you can't have their level of 'quality' anywhere else. And if you do a day with any other provider you will pay not much less. So no hesitation in recommending it, specifically if you have a BM.
Never enough time and so much to see and experience.
Previously a VStrom 650, and a KTM SMR 950, currently XT600E with many mods. And now a F800GS Trophy since the KTM has gone.

Re: BMW Off Road Skills
I did it on the 1200 and to be honest, listening to all the comments made during the 2 days it is actually easier to ride in many ways, although if you think you will drop it over and over then I can see how it would soon knacker you out
I guess it depends on what you ride every day. I have a Adventure so it had to be a 1200, and the normal GS actually felt SMALL
You get to ride all the bikes on the second day, just a short ride to see how they feel.
I did like the F800GS but they all say its a pig off road due to the revvy engine.
Can't go wrong on the 1200 I reckon
Level one is all about bike control. I'd say it would help what ever bike you ride on or off road.
The instructors are very good at telling how you're getting on and how far to push you so there is no need to worry about being out of your depth.
I would recommend it 100%
It is a lot of money I know and god only knows when I'll be able to do level 2, but I will, one day :cheer:
Go for it.
You wont regret it B)
Yes the weather was just great, amazing!!
