Garmin Zumo 660 problem ...

Post by Sloth »

Hi Help needed
I plugged my unit in to check for updates today and all seemed to go well , but when I turned on later I got a message on unit screen saying "system software missing " . this is a problem as the device will now not boot and I,m heading to Europe in a couple of weeks.
Anyone any ideas ?
Cheers in advance

Is there a reset button underneath ? My TomTom used to do that with the traffic updates, I pushed the reset with a pen nib and it worked again.

When you get it back from Garmin make a complete back up copy of the GPS software so that if it ever happens again you can just load the files back into GPS.
Use Garmin Basecamp then go to >File >Backup this will create a total backup of your GPS if you get a problem then just go >File >Restore and this will restore all your old files including maps back onto your GPS.
Next time you get a system update save it first then load it, as if you get a interruption in the download it can corrupt the software.

good luck
