Camp Site Information -
"Ullapool is based on the Northwest Highland coastline. Established as a fishing port due to the natural protection offered by the peninsula, the village now serves as a central location for the Highlands. The land and scenery around the Highlands are still rugged and breathtaking at once and make for a great touring holiday. History is apparent in the buildings still standing, and the ruins which date back as far as the Picts, Celts and Vikings who all settled in the area.
The ferry from Ullapool harbour also offers the opportunity to explore Lewis and the Hebrides.
Broomfield Holiday Park is set on the banks of Lochbroom in Ullapool looking to the Summer Isles and the Hebrides. For anyone wishing to tour and camp in the Highlands of Scotland, Broomfield offers a well maintained and serviced site, centrally located for many of the most popular Highland destinations, and set in an outstanding environment famed for scenery and sunsets alike.
Broomfield was established over 40 years ago and is the only caravan and camping park in Ullapool offering one of the most outstanding beauty spots on the Highland coastline, extending over 12 acres of level grass overlooking the waters of Lochbroom.
We are only 2 minutes walk from the village front and there are many bars, restaurants and shops along side and within easy access from the site. Whether visitors wish to stay within Ullapool or tour the region surrounding us, Broomfield offers a welcoming and pleasant site from which to appreciate the marvels of the Highlands.
On the site we have facilities to meet all camping requirements. The 2 large toilet blocks are equipped with; toilets, hot and cold wash basins, shaving points, coin-op showers, hand dryers, chemical waste disposal points, dish washing sinks, water standpipes and there is also a launderette with washing machines and tumble dryers. There are power hook-ups throughout the site and there is also a play area for the children.
There is still a major fishing presence in Ullapool, offering visitors a chance to see an industry threatened in many parts of Europe and sample some of the best quality seafood in the UK. The village itself offers visitors a chance to appreciate an environment and pace of life sadly lacking in many places. You are more likely to run out of time than things to do in Ullapool. The prime activities undertaken in the region are those involving the landscape and nature. The Highlands offer some of the best scenery and a closeness to unspoilt natural resources that is hard to rival. Locations of interest include the Lael Forest walk and garden, the Knockan nature trail, the Falls of Measachand the Inverewe Tropical Gardens.
Local companies such as North West Frontiers offer assistance in organising treks at all levels of ability and desire and mountain bikes can be hired on a daily basis. There are local cruise boats such as the Summer Queen that sail Lochbroom out to and around the Summer Isles. There is also sea and loch angling, sailing, boating and there is a 9-hole golf course in the village. Adjacent to the site there is a course for the relatively new sport of Disc Golf, which is fun for children and adults alike. If the weather takes a turn for the worse, there is a local leisure centre with a full range of sports facilities and swimming pool, a museum that covers the local history from Pictish times and has visual and audio guides in 7 languages, and many craft shops specialising in hand made jewellery and clothing."
Other than that it is a fluid account of do what you want - go on the rides or make your own way around etc a la Boil expiernce.
