Last minute trip to Scotland.

Post by Gripper1974 »

Hi all, a few of us are taking a trip up to Scotland next Friday (21st March). It will be wild camping near one of the lochs, maybe a day run out to the highlands on the Saturday followed by a couple of beers, sat round a campfire while we talk tyres, exhausts and b#llox. If anyone else fancies it, give me a shout and we can let you know the times and plans. Be good if we see a few of you there ;-)

I'm not promising anything but if the weather's good I might break out the old Africa Twin! But March can be a harsh month here in the Highlands! I've seen several feet of snow towards the end of the month but the sun's been beautiful this week so we can only hope!
Best of luck folks, hope it's nice!

Was out on the bike at Calendar a few days ago and could see the snow on the hills further north.
I think that we could do with a report from someone on the conditions up towards Tyndrum and Glen Coe.
Must admit it is usually April before I venture further north.

Best route is maybe up through Rumbling Bridge, Glen Devon, Glen Eagles to Crief and round by Loch Earn.
Do not go over the hills from Crief to Aberfeldy as the snow will be deep on those roads.

I'm just back from from Skye today. Beautiful sunshine and blue skies most of the week with heavy rain and strong winds this morning. Some snow higher on the peaks up north but generally I would say ok to camp at the moment. Its barely even cold.

I might be available next weekend for a ride out. What way are you heading north? I'm based in Stirlingshire.

A couple of us are heading over to North Manchester on Thursday after work and dosing down at Angus's place then heading up from there on Friday morning. More than likely in to Glasgow to meet up with Al if he can make it ( fingers crossed) . Looking to get there about lunch time, stock up on food and beer then be at a camping place mid afternoon. That's about all the plans we have at the moment.
