Hi all,
I'm planning my first overnight camping trip on my bike to Fort William either next weekend or the weekend after.
I'm just trying to get together a list of any essentials I still need to buy, so would appreciate any input.
I'll be staying on a camp site.
List of everything so far:
Tent
Sleeping Bag
Bag Liner
Sleeping Mat
Pillow
Tarp
Head Torch
Trangia Cooker (must get Meths & Lighter)
Cooking Utensils
Cup
Cutlery
Bowl
Change of clothes
Toiletries
Towel
Hair Straighteners ( I joke - though have seen some 12v ones  )
Camera
Mobile
Book
Chain Lube
Tyre Plugging Kit
Green Flag Number
Thanks in advance.

 Just going on recommendations - got a Coleman Phad x2 and its supposed to be a bit thin - so got a small cheapo tarp to use as a footprint.
Chain lube in case it rains

Don't forget to pack the ....................chocolate!
Do a trial run and ask yourself can the bike actually carry all this extra bulk and weight safely or will it become unwieldy, e.g front end going very light, and struggle getting up the hills.
Most of us have probably carried too much stuff when we start out bike camping but as time goes on we pare it down, both size and weight, until it all becomes manageable - personally I'm still going through this stage, so you are not alone, but I have a 1200GSA with aluminium boxes which will easily carry lots of kit. With a small bike it's a different kettle of fish.
I would suggest leaving the cooking stuff at home initially as there must be a cafe or pub in Fort William for eats and drinks. Just carry a plastic bottle of water to quench your thirst.
Whatever you decide enjoy your trip.

Good list,
I'd add a water bottle and some tea/coffee making stuff.
Yay spring! :woohoo:

Baby wipes. Put a handful in a zip lock food bag for a small trip.
Are you cooking? There's no mention of food but taking a stove & pots. Buying small quantities of food whilst away isn't easy & then you're stuck with the left overs! Choose carefully

The Phad tents are meant to be great! If the footprint is to stop the cold ground getting through, put an emergency blanket (tiny to carry) underneath your air bed. I use a picnic blanket as it has several uses.
Use the tarp as an extra bit of dry head space instead

It's good to test your kit out both on and off the bike before you go. But I rarely practice what I preach
Make sure you have some funds just in case you end up in a B&B!
