Anyone using Bennetts or Carol Nash?

Post by dave_ac »

Hi,

This is not a moan, just wondered what makes Bennetts and Carol Nash insurance worth the inflated prices. I assume that they just as cut throat and with a strong desire to keep their money as any other insurance firm.

So why over the last 5 years (since returning to two wheels) when looking for insurance are they both at least double the likes of MCE?

For example this year MCE £250 for 15 months insurance Bennetts and CN both over £600 for 12 months

Do you get a beautiful woman (or man as it is 2014) to look after you if you have an accident?
Do you get sent a Cream Egg in December?
Maybe a 'free' sticker?

Like I said not a moan, just courious

I tried MCE yesterday for a 250cc bike

MCE £410 TPFT, I moaned and they dropped to £280 and were very pressurized - sign now and you can cancel

CN - £128 for TPFT

It must be me then.

MCE the only things I would complain about is the shit on hold recorded BSB advert and the fact I can not read the PDF cover note they email (they do post it out free of charge)

Yep, I found both CN and B both expensive as well the twice I've checked them.

I have 3 bikes insured with Carole Nash, fully comp £302 and protected no claims bonus.
I tried to get a price with Bennets, but I have to many accessories for them to insure me!
All of my accessories to the bikes is added on to the value of the bike and with Jesse panniers on 2 bikes the makes the value rise a lot, so I'm please with my price.
I have used the Carole Nash Euro breakdown cover and my husband has used the Euro repatriation cover.

Myself & 2 mates use CN, I have my Goldwing & Africa Twin fully comp £180. En route to the Elefantentreffen last week my mates bike broke down at 15.30. Within 45 mins a recovery vehicle was collecting the bike and taken back to their depot. We were informed that it would be collected at 09.00 next day to be taken to a main dealer for repair. CN also booked a hotel for us and the recovery company let me leave my bike there overnight as well. I can only say speak as you find so CN get my vote and if it's £20 more who cares.
I personally wouldn't use MCE because I've had issues with an associate company

I'm with Bennetts for my Transalp. Cheapest for me by a long way but its still about 1.5 times how much it is to insure my car but then I am a new rider with less than 6 months experience. MCE were cheaper but to get a comparable level of cover I would have had to add on quite a few extras.

My f650 is fully comp with carole nash as quote was equal cheapest.
Their quote for my street triple was about double what I eventually settled for.
Insurance quotes are a lottery.
