Just sayin'......

BMW GS1200 Tourist

KTM 990 Tourist.

NAwwww - don't sound right does it.

But anyway, aren't all 'adventure' motorcyclists merely motorcycle tourists by another name?

:-)

My folks toured around France ,Italy, Austria on his 500 Velocette a few years after the end of WWII, it was an adventure, they were on a motorcycle, the marketing boys hadn't thought of any special terms then.Dispatch riders coats and wool trousers, staying in pensions and making sign language for what they wanted, the technology changes but the ride is the same.

An adventure is an exciting or unusual experience;() it may also be a bold, usually risky undertaking, with an uncertain outcome.[1] Adventures may be activities with some potential for physical danger such as skydiving, mountain climbing or participating in extreme sports. The term also broadly refers to any enterprise that is potentially fraught with physical, financial or psychological risk, such as a business venture, a love affair, or other major life undertakings.

A tourist avoids risk and has a return ticket.

The problem with the word ADVENTURE is that it counjours up thoughts of FIRST to DO.
Were Hillary & Tensing Everest Adventurers & all that came after just CLIMBERS.
Once it's been done can the next be an adventure or tour in the true meaning of the word.
As there aren't many more stones to turn, does ADVENTURER become diluted to TOURIST.
Therefore doesn't the equipment become touring including the machine it's done on.

It's an adventure if the rider thinks it is and it really doesn't matter how others describe it.

The way some people describe it you'd think the rider had to be alone and only ride on gravel tracks then pretend they're Bear Grylls at night or they might as well go on a package holiday to the Canaries.
