ok guys, I took my bike in for its end of warranty check up, a few little corrosion problems like spokes and bolts, the other thing they noticed was a leaky fork seal, this must have happened as I was riding down for the check up. anyway they called me today saying that yamaha was sending a new fork leg, when I asked why they replied that ALL 2010 and 2011 models have faulty fork legs, the reason is they used old parts from years ago. this is what my yamaha dealer told me yamaha told him. now then if this the case why haven't yamaha recalled the bikes ?,

So are they changing just the one fork leg then ?... I would expect them to change both of them if its true what they said.

I have the first edition model, on a 61 plate, and thought I had fork seals leaking slightly a few months after buying the bike new. So it was booked in my Yam dealer, but when the mechanic inspected them I was told that it was only production grease in the dust seals that was seeping out. After they were cleaned I've not had anymore oil marks on the fork stanchions.

Edit to add...... since I was told this, I have been occasionally removing the dust seals to check the fork seals and they are always bone dry.

To say that 'ALL' 2010 and 2011 models of the Super Ten have faulty fork legs is an incredibly bold statement to make..... I'd like to know which dealer is saying this ??

his actual words we're, yamaha have told him that theres a fault with the forks on the first edition bikes, which to me translates to the 2010/2011 bikes. mines a 2011, so if the forks are faulty on mine then im guessing that the 2010 bikes are the same. ive heard of a few that have had leaky forks with low miles on different forums. so there could be some truth to it

Ok, let us know who the dealer is after he's done your warranty work..... if he's saying all first edition models have faulty forks, then I certainly want to hear it from him and i'll then speak to Yamaha UK and see what they say about it.
