My hardest post
My hardest post
My wife of 24 years has died, she was 46
We had the flu
that sounds so fucking stupid..flu.
She was so bad last Sunday that she stayed in bed, I made her drinks but she had no appetite and did not eat. The Monday morning I helped her to the toilet and she passed out. I was concerned but overly worried, she came to almost straight away. I was going to call an ambulance but she wanted just to go to the Doctor. At the Doctors she collapsed again and an ambulance took her to local hospital. She was put on a drip, had colour back and was laughing at my feeble jokes and annoyed at the inconvenience of being in hospital. I went home to walk the dogs and have my dinner about 6 that evening. All was well.
Tuesday when I arrived at the hospital she was in pain, she had not slept and couldn't get comfortable. During the run of the day it got worse, She was moved to a single room and the Influenza virus was confirmed. The pain increased and her breathing worsened, pain killers were not helping and she was moved to intensive to monitor everything better. She asked me to go home to walk the dogs she was in the best hands. At 9 the hospital rang to say she had gone into arrest and they had had to resuscitate, they were moving her to the University Hospital about 40 minutes away. On arrival the had to reanimate again and I should call a friend. They could not stabilize her and the life support machines were switched at 07:30 Wed morning.
My world, my life, my love has been ripped apart
I need to find the strength and carry on. Always one step further.
