To impress people we don't even like

Sand, yet to really try it.
My one foray on the Braunton Burrows in my Youth on my old aircooled KDX ended in relative disaster at every turn.
Must get over to Thetford to practice.

"The trails of the world be countless, and most of the trails be tried.
You tread on the heels of many, till you come where the ways divide.
And one lies safe in the sunlight, and the other is dreary and wan, Yet you look aslant at the Lone Trail, and the Lone Trail lures you on....
....Bid good-bye to sweetheart, bid goodbye to friend, The Lone Trail, the Lone Trail, follow to the end.
Tarry not, and fear not, chosen of the true;
Lover of the Lone Trail, The Lone Trail waits for you"

It's a close call between Ruts, Sand & Chalk.
The Ruts have it.

Wet chalk for me especially if it slopes slightly so you have to ride across the slope rather than up or down it, nasty. I personally like ruts, means I can get my short legged feet on the ground for once!

Yeah, +1 on sand and ruts. This horrendous crash of mine resulted in a titanium plate and 7 screws in my ankle!

Grassy, boggy flat areas. They look easy so you go in gentle like and the back end instantly overtakes the front.
The secret of a long life is knowing when its time to go.

Off topic I know - but that looks like a reasonably slow dismount, typical type that we all have from time to time. Reckon you were just extremely unlucky - out of interest what sort of boots were you wearing?Willandkate wrote:Yeah, +1 on sand and ruts. For me it has to be water, I've made a bit of a habit of becoming submerged in the wet stuff of late .......
