Evening all.
I want a flip front lid. I liked the look of the shark evo 3 so I eventually tried one on.
I was very disappointed as I felt exposed even with the front down. I can imagine a full on Gale blowing up under the chin at any sort of speed.
So what do you use. I will use it in all weather's and I need a bluetooth also. The shark bluetooth looks good as does the Schubert but the rest just loom like big plastic lumps stuck on the side.
So I welcome your thoughts before I make a mistake....test riding one does not seem to be an option.

well actualy I use a shark evoline 3, I have used it in some full on heavy weather, and not found it to be a problem.
I find it warm and pretty quiet.

I just felt that the lack of any kind of neck cover would let throwing in. But that was my view after a first try on.

Hi.
Used to have a Caberg Justisimo (excuse my spelling if that's wrong) About 5 years ago. It was ok, felt a bit heavy, the mechanism felt a bit clunky and industrial, no chin curtain so a bit draughty. On the positive side though I'd never had a flip front before so didn't notice any of the faults at the time and the "no fog" visor and internal sun shield were awesome.
Now use a Shoei Multitec. It's quite light for a flip front, very comfortable, pin lock visor is great, chin curtain keeps wind out, mechanism is smooth but positive. However, been replaced by the neotech (more expensive), multitec has no internal sun shield (neotech does).
When I bought the multitec I tried on a Shark evo 3 didn't like the fit, only advantages were that it had an internal sun shield and was told it's the only flip front lid you can legally wear with the chin bar up. Also tried on a Schuberth (can't remember model) really didn't like the fit and found the price a bit prohibitive.
No ideas about Bluetooth, no experience, sorry.

I've got a Schuberth C3 which I bought in Heine Gericke's closing down sale last year, before their rescue package came through. I really like being able to flip up the front when trundling through town or sitting at traffic lights.
The only problem I have found with it is that I have not yet found a local dealer to get a new visor from.
However, the fit is all-important when choosing a helmet - what is a great helmet for me might be a rubbish helmet for you. So the only advice I think I can give is to try on a lot of helmets and choose which ever one fits best.

i too have an evoline, a mk1 and dont have any problem on my varadero.
i find schuberths the most uncomfortable helmets ive ever tried, in fact i cant even get them on unless i have a dangerously loose over sized one. different manufacturers make different head shapes i guess. try a nolan, very comfortable and pre set up for their bluetooth unit (and stereo speakers)

I've got an Evoline....2nd generation I think. I use it on a KTM 990.
No problems what so ever....A bit heavy compared to a "normal" lid, but its the best flip front I've ever owned.
All the others I tried, the chin bar was far to close to my chin....touching it in most cases, so I opted for the Shark

well input from me ..
had a cagberge Justimo first generation..heavy but good helmet
traded up [or down
] to a 3 times the price Nolan N103..at first great helmet but CRAP uk dealer back up and warranty..they now have new distributor up north ..
the internal sun visor isnt as low a Caberge but then thats most these days..the pinlock scratches the internal visor after time..and looses contact so you get water in between internal pin lock and visor..
Its a very comfy helmet and the let downs spoil it for me..
To get no wind from underneath use a jacket with a high collar..
and all helemts are made for different head shapes :whistle: and sizes vary too

Avoid Caberg at all costs. I had a Caberg Trip and the 'ratchet' system for the visor soon wore out. It was just a dimple in the visor locating in dents on the side of the helmet. So when the visor misted up I had to either open up the visor fully (fun and a rainy day) or hold it open slightly. 'Piece of crap' just about sums it up. Got a proper helmet now; a Shoei.
