Drove down to Altberg at Richmond,N.Yorks yesterday for boots and from various articles I had read about them previously, was expecting to have my foot measured and then wait several weeks for the boots to be made.
Altberg have most of their range in stock and I was able to buy a pair of Clubman Roadster boots immediately with 7.5% off the normal price for going to the shop.The boots are really comfortable and I was given a large tin of their special waterproofing wax free.So if anybody was put off buying Altberg boots - chances are your size is in stock and available but if you are making a long journey maybe ring first.

+1 for Altberg boots. I have had my Hogg all weather 6 years now, still waterproof and wearing well. I ad them re-soled last year.

Due to my size 13's, Altberg were the only boots I could find when taking my Direct Access 12 years ago.

Still in great service today, and always shine up great with good old boot polish.
Don't be tempted by those magic leather treatments as seen at most of the bike shows as I tries that stuff and the colour started to come out of the boots.

I have had a slight leak in the heel where it meets the upper, but this is due to using the left hand toe to prize off the boots, a bit of sealant worked.

Only issue is the boots I chose had buckles and are high mid calf, great if you have no belly and can bend over that far..... :woohoo:

10-10 for 12 year old boots with another few year in em yet, big plus if I am going fancy dress as a Goth too.....

I bought a pair of the lastest roadman boots last year, first bit of rain and they leaked.
Had to insist that they collected them which they did, and they subsequently confirmed that they were faulty and returned my money. Tried again end of last year to buy the latest Kahn boots only to be told that although they are shown on their website, there not available till May/June. not impressed. Bought a pair of Sidi Adventure's at the Bike Show.

I have their aqua sneaker boots and their the best thing ive had on my feet , done 1000s of miles in the rain with them and never let a drop of water in

When I tried all the well known adventure boots they wouldn't fasten round my large calfs (I had the same problem years ago with trials boots) so I went to Altberg & after taking the usual measurements they decided that I needed extra material round the calf area so I had to wait for a few weeks for mine but I'm delighted with the Hoggs I got. Especially when you're off the bike walking round.

Does anyone have any experience of their vegan bike boots made out of Lorica?

I went to the factory just before xmas for a fitting and spoke to them about making a pair for me - I'm vegetarian, not vegan, but still I'm not keen on the idea of leather, so if there is an alternative, I'll consider it... They can make a pair of their Hogg boots in a leather substitute called Lorica (Sidi also make boots out of it) they will cost 25% more than standard leather, but to be honest, the sample they gave me it doesn't feel substantial... I wonder if anyine has a pair and what they think?

I've been really pleased with my Hoggs. I had to wait 6 weeks because I needed a wide fitting. Now about halfway through the second sole, very comfortable. The extra layer over the left toes is wearing due to the gear change but I guess that's after about 70,000 miles of riding. They are waterproof for about two hours after which I get a damp patch by the tongue. A good all round boot.

Is it correct that no longer refurbish boots and if the sole wears out its a new pair?
