As this will be the first ABR Rally held this side of the pond, I'm hoping to see a good turn out. Dont let recent events or history put you off attending.

Its called the Emerald Isle for a reason, so come and see for yourself, you wont be disappointed.

This rally is the weekend before the famous Northwest 200 Road races. If youre thinking of coming over for the racing, take a few extra days and attend this rally also.

The selected venue for this event is a family run campsite at the foot of Slieve Meelmore in the area of the Mourne Mountains, County Down. This is an area of outstanding natural beauty within the 'Kingdom of Mourne'

For those making ferry crossings from GB, this location is approximately 1 hour south of Belfast and around 2 hours north of Dublin

The campsite is currently undergoing a major refurbishment which started recently and will be completed in the near future. This will mean that all the on-site facilities will be new, including a new toilet/shower block. Showers etc will be coin operated but cost is not known at this time. There will also be normal campsite washing/drying rooms.

The on-site cafe will again be completely refurbished and will be there to supply hot food, snacks, tea, coffee etc. They have also agreed to offer attending ABR's the full traditional Ulster Fry breakfast at a discounted rate.

There is also full campsite/carpark CCTV coverage for peace of mind re bike security

There is NO pub in close proximity to the site, so any beer etc will be required to be brought with you, or purchased locally in Newcastle, which is only a few miles away.

Getting a taxi from the campsite to Newcastle (based on 4 persons sharing) is £4pp return

The site owners have also agreed to host a BBQ on the Saturday night if required and a price will be agreed per person on the day.

Price

A discounted price of £5 per person per night has been agreed with the site owner for those using tents. Payment to host on arrival

There is also a B&B option within the campsite, but for those attending and wish to avail of this option, you must book it directly with the campsite as there are only a limited number of spaces available.
Ask for Ruth Tel: 028 43725949 or 43726657

Ride Outs

Saturday - Flintlock has agreed to lead an all day ride out. See separate thread in the ABR Ireland section re Flintlocks Ride Out to sign up

Due to the numbers attending, a second Saturday ride out will now be available, with details posted here in due course.

Sunday - I will take a 'mystery' ride out which will include numerous single track roads. Some of these roads (if you can call them roads) will require standing on the pegs riding, so would not be entirely suitable for every type of bike

There is no off road option at this rally as there are no open trails that I am aware of.

So see you all on the 10th May at Irelands 1st ABR Event

Its been a few years since I was in Ireland last - and a few more since I rode there.

As I´m planning to do the Wales and Scotland ones in 2013 - I can´t let this one by and miss out on the ABR Celtic Trio! Even if it will mean pretty much a straight run up from Barcelona.

Grateful if you could add my name and one tent to the list please.

Looking forward to it already.
Pat
