Hello!
Looking at purchasing a concrete in ground anchor and a chain and padlock for when my bike is parked up at home.
Any suggestions and recommendations?
Cheers,
Ben

Almax 16mm or 18mm chain with matching squire padlock. I wouldn't go with anything else personally, had mine for nearly 4 years and still keeping the scum bags at bay.
Regarding the ground anchor, I'm not sure what the best options are at the moment.

As Husabang said, Almax.
The guy is great to deal with, very helpful.
You'll need a good 2 metres of chain, they also do the anchors

All I can say is with these two, I feel my bike is safe and no one has stolen it!

I just dug a hole and used ready mixed concrete.
Chain wise, anything that is Thatcham rated will give you peace of mind and keep the insurance co happy. I have a Motrax one which includes a disc lock, so even if the chain is cut, the disc is still locked.

More peace of mind than a non Thatcham rated product, in that all chains can be cut somehow.

Hi Ben
Thatcham Approved seems to be the best guarantee for ground anchors. For Chains/Padlocks I always go for ABUS.
If of any interest to you I have a brand new Thatcham Approved Abus Ground (or wall-mounted) Anchor which sell for £80+. It comes complete with serious anchor bolts and has the benefit of roll-over inset - if garage floor-mounted, and you want to be able to roll-over (e.g. car tyres).
See this link for detail -
http://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcy ... prod/27443 It is very heavy, so postage cost may be an issue - unless you're in the SE area and can collect (I may deliver)? I would take £50 for it?
You can contact me on 07791 919546.
David.

dont tell your insurance unless you have to, they will expect you to use it EVERY time and want to inspect the remains if the worst happens.
Most good boat chandlers will sell strong toughened anchor chain by the metre. I put it inside a bicycle inner tube so it doesnt scratch wheels
