That reminds me I don't remember your bike whistling. From what I remember it sounded sweet. B)
What is the 800 whistle all about?

Re: New Triumph 800 Adventure Bike
Dunno about the power, getting over 7K revs to get to peak torque is a bit aggressive for loose road riding you need a nice stonking great torque curve from lower revs... even MCN said the torque delivery was a bit "flat" which to me reads feckin' useless on gravelminkyhead wrote:strange that .. ive never been tempted in to the triumph fold
but every triumph ive ridden i have to say i have really liked the delivery from their engines
i reacon the engine will deliver well ..if the peak pwer is higher up i wouldnt see that as problem off road ..maby even a benifit it is 100bhp after all
i guess we will have to join the que and check it out

If its going to be 'the best adventure bike in the world' then surely ABR mag should have a test fleet fully kitted from Triumph and your loyal readership should have them on long term tests to provide some nice objective observations?

The secret of a long life is knowing when its time to go.

Triumph obviously didn't think the readership of ABR was their market as we were not invited, but I have had a couple of freelance jounos who were on the guest list trying to sell in their 'exclusive' test reports. Go Figure.

Re: New Triumph 800 Adventure Bike
MSL Mag (sorry Alun - I subscribe to that on e too) did an interesting write up of a 3 week and around 6k test run right across the far end of Europe and back. Apparently they did a deal with a testrider to capture Triumph putting it through its final paces - and they do hightlight one or two niggles (which of course have now been sorted on the production versions). Again, def clear promotional work by Triumph - but can't blame them for that. In fact, I think it is quite cool that they decided to give the pre-production model the sort of testing customers might give it. Sorry - can't find the article online though - this is the blurb they put on the website:
18 Triumph’s New Adventure: The Touring Test
And what do MSL expect to do about this new bike? Sit there and look at it or how about riding for several thousand miles on it across Europe while others where rushing around grabbing blurred photos of our man doing the test? That’s right, OUR MAN WAS TESTING IT! Here’s his take on the trip, the bike and the experience of loading up the new Tiger 800 and heading off on an adventure

Re: New Triumph 800 Adventure Bike
I'm sure there will be plenty of test ride reports soon enough once they start flying out the doors, and I've no doubt they will!
The 675 whistles very similar to the 800's in the video, standard exhausts have that effect.
Thankfully I'm not averse to stealth, keeps the boys in blue off my case! I'm sure it'll sound a bit more fruity with the Arrow after market can. By the way, the 955 isn't much better with the standard pipe.
Poo pooing possibly what will be one of the best British bikes to come out of Hinkley without even seeing one in the flesh, far less riding one, is ludicrous.
I'll make my mind up once I've had a test ride and not before. Still sounding good to me, it managed to impress the test riders so I'll take that as a good sign!

Well said that man. What is it with people who can't wait to slag a new bike off!!
Come on give it a go and get behind it!!

Re: New Triumph 800 Adventure Bike
They put a good bit of spin on that! It was a Triumph test rider who rode it, and reported no faults other than a problem with the side stand that was fixed before production.
He was never likely to come back and say "that bike is the worst bike I've ever rode" now was he?
Its probably the same "independent" test rider that offered a ride report to Alun.
