Are they for real!

The Duke is a beautiful bike but out of them 4 bikes. :S Id put it last when it comes to adventure riding. Its more of a sit up sports bike like the last Triumph tiger.
I think I've sussed the results.... They filmed it all out of sequence, the pub shot was done first and they must have been drinking all afternoon to come up with that load of tosh as a conclusion.
The dwarf picked the stroodle because he's a Dwarf FFS!, I'd lay good money on him voting for a roller skate in first place due to the seat height being lower.

So the KTM runs out of puff on the roads...really...is that because they are sports bike riders???

Multistrader handles better (but not off road...doh I thought they were supposed to be off road too) Do they really expect a 21" to turn in as quick on the roads? Wanks

Bought the MCN today out of interest to get some more info on the 800 XC

Was really disappointed in what I read.

It looks like it will have a uselessy flat torque curve as it makes peak torque at over 7K... way past were I would consider it to be usable on an 800.

Peak power is impressive but it means taking it to over 9k to achieve it. One of the things I dislike about the modern Triumphs is having to constantly wring their neck to get them to make good progress. I find that becomes tiring on a long run of the type I like, back roads and minor A-roads. I like to have power and torque on tap for making good progress, not have to constantly kick up and down the box like on a two stroke.

A stone heavier than the F800GS , better fuel capacity , but what about the MPG ?
And apparently road biased gearing and the one thing I hate above all , as I wherever possible avoid motorways, an "overdrive" gear in sixth. The same reason I won't give a standard 1150GS house room is the bloody awful gear ratios to give that "overdrive" in top makes for buzzy riding, even around town, compared to the 1100 and the 1150 ADV.

I think it will possibly outsell the 1050's but won't be a Beemer buster just yet... I await the judgement of unbiased riders, but at the moment I don't rate it's chances of a place on my side of the garage.

Listen to the engine at 2.22, it sounds like a DT125  and the rest of the time it sounds like a bike from battle star gallatica :pinch:

I've listened to that engine sound at 2.22 a few times now.... and it really seems to be coming from a different bike somewhere, not the Tiger XC.
More disappointing to me is that horrible whistling engine note.
In fact the more i'm finding out about this bike, the more its looking likely that it isn't for me. Which i'm not really bothered about as i prefer Jap stuff anyway. I'll still give it a test ride though, but it'll have to blow me away to even consider it.

Soon as i heard it i thought of a dt175, But dont all new bikes with standard exhausts whistle nowadays!!, either that or you cant hear them at all. I used to hear my neighbour start up his old bandit every morning to go to work, it was like my alarm clock. now he has a brand new bandit and i cant hear it, roll on him buying new cans for it.

The best all-round adventure bike in the world - so says MCN!

This weeks Triumph catalogue, which goes under the alternative title of MCN, has a ride report on the new 800 which culminates with executive editor Phil West claiming that the XC is the 'best all-round adventure bike in the world.

The man is without doubt a genius and soothsayer. I know of no other person on earth who could come to that conclusion after riding a new bike with no travel luggage for a couple of hours in the sun somewhere near Barcelona. Bravo.

Yeah but someone did a 180 degree skid on a dirt road. So surely that qualifys it as the best in the world?
